Detailed Personality: There is only one word to described Mordicus and that is eccentric. Perhaps one would expect that given the family his mother was born into, perhaps not. Either way, Mordicus always has had a love of doing things the opposite way of other people, believing things that most don't. Combined with the fact that he is insanely curious about a lot of things especially the 'forbidden' topics such as how the Muggles truly lived etc. Perhaps it was because he had grown up in a household surrounded by Magic but ever since he was incredibly young he was fascinated with how people could live without it.
Mordicus, has never really understood people well and therefore has always beeon very much on the outside. He loves talking about Muggles and all that goes with them as well as his other interests such as rare Magical creatures etc. On the same note he doesn't get why people are interested in the things they are interested in - such as when he was a teenager he didn't get why all the boys in his dorm were going on about girls and the like, after all there was much more interesting things to go on about! As he has grown older though, he has had his number of crushes and even fallen in love and has somewhat started to comprehend it if not fully.
Mordicus is passionate about everything he does. Once he develops an interest in something it is incredibly strong and never half done. While this has sometimes gotten him into trouble, it can be a good thing at times too as he can be relied on to find out all there is on a certain topic. Even if he can take it to an extreme level at times. Though a part of that is that he is too stubborn to admit defeat and given up on whatever it is.
Despite his eccentricity, Mordicus is actually quite intelligent and loves to learn new things. He often has a large collection of books that he is reading - always non-fiction as he has never once touched a fiction novel in his life much preferring to read facts instead. This ranges from Muggles to Wizarding History to Magical Mythology and pretty much everything in between though the former and the latter of the ones mentioned are by far his favourite areas to read about.
Even if Mordicus doesn't fully get things that most people do and are interested in he does mean well... Even if a lot of people don't understand that. Given the events of his life, he has come to accept the fact that he is a bit of a loner and will always be different to other people to the point where he thinks he is the normal one.
history:
Mordicus was born December 23 1936 to Jasmine Lovegood and Sunny Side Egg, Mordicus was bound to be eccentric from the get go. There was no way he couldn't be with them as his parents. Jasmine and Sunny both lived by the rules of 'be who you are and don't let anyone influence you' and perhaps they took it to the extreme but that was definitely something they did, without a care for the world. It was something they also taught Mordicus from a young age.
When he was a young child, Mordicus was raised with a 'ask a question and we'll answer honestly no matter what the question was'. Some parents might not have liked this but Jasmine and Sunny didn't believe in keeping secrets and perhaps this was one of ther easons Mordicus turned out to be so eccentric. After all he received the 'talk' at the age of four after asking where babies came from.
Often travelling the world with Jasmine and Sunny, Mordicus was exposed to a lot of different cultures from an early age - both Magical and Muggles, his parents not discerning from which was which. They didn't even both to dress as Muggles in the Muggle world which did cause a few problems along the way but most people just brushed it off as eccentricity.
Over all, Mordicus had a good childhood even if it was a not the most typical one. He loved the traveling he did with his parents and found the more he was intrigued by other cultures. It wasn't just over seas but Muggles in England too that he was interested in. In fact it was the latter - both in England and overseas that intrigued him the most. He just couldn't understand how someone could live without magic.
Once he turned eleven, he was accepted into Hogwarts where he was sorted into Ravenclaw. There was no other house for him truthfully though at a push he might have been able to be sorted into Hufflepuff. While he personally loved school and all it held to him, he wasn't the most popular student, far from it in fact. To him, it was their ignorance that stopped them from understanding why they didn't like it but when it came down to it, he was just too different and didn't understand why they didn't like the same sort of thing as he did.
During his first year, it didn't take him long for the other students to come up with a slew of not so nice nicknames including Morbid Mordicus. He was oblivious to it all though. His biggest problem was that he would persist in questioning Muggleborn's about the Muggle world, not realising how annoying this could be.
It definitely didn't help endear him to people. He didn't care though, he loved the world he lived in and didn't really care about the other people. After all if he tried to make them like him he wouldn't be himself and that would be disastrous!
The following years at Hogwarts did pass in a similar fashion though as he approached graduation he started to slowly become less eccentric in some ways... Mostly half way through his seventh year he actually figured out why his year mates kept going on about the opposite gender etc.
He did well at his course work, his favourite subjects being Muggle Studies, CoMC and History of Magic - the three areas he was most passionate about. He sometimes would focus so much on these that he would let his other subjects slide a bit but in the end he did quite well at them still.
After graduating from Hogwarts, Mordicus, having no real idea what he wanted to do with his life, travelled the world. For the following five years he went from country to country researching their histories and looking the way of life of the Muggles after he discovered it varied from country to country - some more than others though.
Returning to England in 1929, he purchased a small flat on the outskirts of Muggle London and sat down to begin his life as a Muggle Researcher and how else to do that but to live with them? While he didn't fully adapt to it, he soon found himself loving his life and tried to do as much as possible without Magic, just to experience things how a Muggle would. It was one of his best decisions he had ever made, in his opinion.
That didn't stop him from standing out though! It was the help with Sue McHenry, a Muggle that he met a few years after returning to England that he fully started to fit in with the Muggle world. At first she had been amused by his eccentricity but it didn't take long for them to form an unusual friendship.
It was thanks to her that he managed to gain the information needed for his two books the first The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why the Muggles Prefer Not to Know, which was published in 1933 and then Cooking the Muggle Way which was published in 1937.
It was during these years that Sue and his relationship developed into something more and the two of them were married in 1940. When they became engaged, Mordicus informed her of the Magical World, something she admitted not being all that surprised about given some of the things he had done during the ten years they had known each other.
The two of them live a comfortable life, Sue being more amused by Mordicus's eccentrics than annoyed and allowing him to question her all she wanted.
