NAME SURNAME
BASICS
NAME: Shannon Brooks
KNOWN AS: Shannon (very few people) Brooks, or Agent Brooks is most common
BIRTHDATE/AGE: Jan 1 1985 | 30
PB: Hayley Atwell

PERSONALITY
Shannon is a no nonsense person who takes life very seriously. She's grown up in the DMS facility as her parents were RS Agents before her as were her grandparents. It's meant that she's seen a lot of things that have made her into the way that she was. Part of this was growing up knowing that she would follow their footsteps into becoming an RSA and therefore needed to maintain a professional distance from all of the Metahumans, though she had no problems with them like some of the other agents and in fact they fascinated her. She's absolutely dedicated to providing the absolute best for them though she knows that the rules are there for a reason and doesn't allow anyone - agent or Metahuman - to break them. She's therefore known as a bit of a stickler a lot of the times but she's one of the best and she doesn't let people's opinions get her down. She knows she's doing the right thing and to her that is all that matters.

While Shannon is a bit of a stickler at times she does know how to have fun. She only has a small handful of close friends that she trusts implicitly but they know all of her secrets and she has no problem with going out for a drink clubbing or just a movie with them. Her parents taught her not to become to close to the Meta's incase they went on to become Field Agents or Operatives and ended up dying. It was hard enough when it happened and they weren't close to them. Shannon, ended up breaking this rule once and it has taught her the lesson the hard was when she was much younger.

Shannon can be rather witty when she is in the mood but usually she isn't and it is rare for her to crack a smile in public. Shannon is absolutely terrified of being rejected and hurt by people close to her. She's come a long way compared to what she was in her late teens but in many ways she has a long way to come. The close group of friends that she has are incredibly grateful that they have actually managed to get her to open up so much to them. Despite her hesitancy to trust people she does protect people no matter what and would have no problem in jumping in front of a bullet to save someone else life. While some people might say this is heroic of her it's truthfully because she doesn't value her life as much as she should - she isn't suicidal she just has had a lot of bad things happen to her in the past fifteen years.

HISTORY
Shannon was born to two DMS RS Agents who worked at the New York Facility, where their parents had worked. She grew up with many of the other children in the facility, both other legacy children and Metachildren. Due to this and her parents job she grew up thinking Meta's were normal and had absolutely no problem with them during these early years of the life and still doesn't for the most part.

Shannon was a happy child who enjoyed playing games and having fun. She often got in trouble by going to places that her parents didn't want such as trying to sneak into Field Agent and Operative training. She was curious, she didn't mean any harm from it. As she got older her parents tried to teach her that she needed to be distant from Meta's especially with those with stronger powers as it was more likely they would be killed in the field. It took her until she was ten and someone she knew was killed that she actually took this to heart.

ooc: part of this paragraph is whited out due to triggery topics: of abuse - both physical and sexual, teen pregnancy and adoption Shannon, at the age of fifteen was dating a a Meta who she had decided she was going to marry. Everything was perfect. It took awhile for her to realise that things weren't perfect. Jake, started to get very possessive of her and hated for her talking to other guys and would try and dictate what she could do. She tried to brush it aside though she was starting to get unsettled by his behaviour. She was soon sporting bruises along her arms from where he gripped too hard. So far though she had managed to maintain her virginity, something she wanted to give to her husband on her marriage night or at least a fiance. She just wasn't ready for sex yet. When he told her he wanted to have sex, she explained and thought that was that. That night though, they were watching movies when he came onto her. She tried to stop him but he was too strong and forced himself onto her. It destroyed her and she completely retreated into herself. The worst part was that she ended up pregnant. She has no idea what happened to Jake but he was no longer in the facility for which she was grateful for.

Shannon and her parents transferred to the Chicago facility after that and six months later she gave birth to a boy who she put up for adoption. She pushed the incident from her mind though it effected her personality quiet a lot. From the out going girl who loved having fun she was demure, quiet and rarely if ever did anything wrong. It was here thought that she met Patrick who slowly worked his way behind her shields and became her first friend here in Chicago. He never pushed the issue and was there for her no matter what. It was three years later, just after her eighteenth birthday that they began to date. While she was cautious with him he was patient and she soon came to trust him. Five years later, on her twenty third birthday they were engaged and married two months later.

In the intervening years, she had attended Kent University and studied sociology and psychology though she wasn't all that interested she knew it would be helpful in her role as a RS Agent. Even despite everything that had happened she didn't doubt she would go into that role and she did just that. She knew that not everyone was like Jake and didn't hold them responsible or take out her anger towards him on the other Meta's. She did remain polite and courteous if a bit distant to all of them. Between that and the danger of them dying she refused to become close to any of them.

Her marriage to Patrick started out well for the first year but it slowly started to deteriorate. While he said that he understood the need to wait until marriage to have sex as well as what happened with Jake he thought that if she had a good sex that she would get over her hesitance to do so. The two of them started to argue and while it never turned physical she was scared that it would. In the end she couldn't take it any more and ended up moving out. The two of them were officially divorced a year later.

Shannon, then devoted herself to her work even more so than she already did. She didn't think about anything but it. The few friends didn't give u in trying to get her to come out but it took her awhile to do so. Even then it is rare that she will go out in a group. She will be more likely to do so if alcohol is involved, having developed a bad habit of drinking it more than she could.

As the years passed she's managed to retain the distance that she's built up around her though she is slowly defrosting towards her friends. She has as little to do with Patrick though as possible.

RESIDENT SUPERVISION AGENTS
CODE NUMBER: [Leave Blank, will be assigned upon acceptance]
CLEARANCE LEVEL: 4

Views on Supers: Is the system right? Broken? Are they people? Are they weapons? Do they need to be contained to keep them safe? Do they deserve to be free?
Shannon in general doesn't have a problem with Metahumans. She's been surrounded by them all of her life but she is well aware that there are the good ones and the bad ones. They're her job though and she refuses to get close to them. She'll train them and supervise them to ensure they do their absolute best and not break any rules, the last being the most important to her. They need to be contained and supervised at all times in order to ensure they don't misbehave and all in all things are decent as it is.

Views on Agents: What IS his/her job, to him/her? What makes a GOOD Agent? What makes a BAD Agent?
An Agent needs to keep everyone in line and make sure that they don't break any rules. A good Agent remains distant, able to look at things objectively and don't let any feelings get in the way of what they are doing. A bad agent lets the Meta's get away with things that they shouldn't and develop friendships and so forth with Metas.
