Appearance

Description: Rodolphus stands at 6'2 with dark black hair which he wears rather short. He also doens't always shave so he often supports a short beard and mustache. Of course he will shave if the situation requires it, he just prefers to have the slight 'bad boy, messy' look about him. Despite that, he does clean up quite well and can look quite handsome. He is one to wear dark robes by choice ranging from dark navy to black.

He stands tall and proud with an air of arrogance and pride about him that can turn some people off. It is obvious though that he takes pride in who he is and how he looks - even if he looks messy it is a neat mess that he has taken time with.

He has a few defining marks on his skin, the most obvious being the Dark Mark on his left forearm that he keeps covered at all times. He also has numerous scars over his body though nothing dangerous. The biggest one though is a four inch scar up the side of his left leg where he was hit with a cutting curse during one of his first raids as a Death Eater.

General Personality: Growing up in his family - one that put a lot of emphasis on pureblood traditions, how they are better than everyone else, Rodophus is unsurprisingly quite prejudiced and arrogant when it comes to a lot of things. In fact he is nearly the stereotype Slytherin in a lot of ways. He believes he is the best when it comes to his blood, his school work, that everyone should listen to what he has to say and respect him. Oh he knows that there are others who are his equals - the Black's, Malfoy's, Rosiers and the other old Pureblood families and he respects them and treats them as they deserve, as how he would like to be treated by them. He has a strong dislike for all things not Pureblood and tries to avoid them whenever necessary. Of course as he knows this isn't completely accepted he can act quite well in public and come off the opposite of how he is. That doesn't mean his beliefs aren't known, he hasn't made them a secret he just didn't go around announcing them to randoms on the street.

Rodolphus would have done quite well in Ravenclaw with his intelligence and desire to learn or even in Hufflepfuff much to his distaste. He will work hard at what he is given and is loyal to those who he thinks deserve it - his father, brother, wife and Lord. Despite that it is his ambition that drives him, the need to be the best of the best or definitely up there with them if he can't get to the very top. That doesn't mean he won't keep trying but he isn't dumb enough to believe that he may not reach there, he is well aware of his own abilities after all. He loves solving problems and mysteries and with a love of history, it means he is a really good curse breaker though he doesn't actively work all that often due to his role as a Death Eater and a Pureblood heir.

Yes he might be well aware of his abilities but that doesn't mean he isn't stubborn. Rodolphus hates the thought of failing at anything or at the very least not doign the best that he can. He wants to prove to people that Purebloods are better than everyone else. Why wouldn't they be if they can do better than the mudblood's at school, get the better jobs etc. He just wants to show that these things are correct and not just propganda.

History

History: Rodolphus was born on 25 June 1950 to Audric and Clementine Lestrange at 10 in the morning. He is the oldest of two with his younger brother Rabastan being born two years later. During his childhood he was taught magic from the age of four when he could understand what he was doing. His life changed once again when he was five, when his mother and father moved them to England in hopes that their children would be accepted into Hogwarts.

By the time he was nine he mastered the basics of the magic that was taught at Hogwarts in Defence, Charms, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes, Potions and Arithmacy. He also had a natural talent for learning the Dark Arts which he had started to learn at the age of eight. He was quick to pick up anything he wanted to learn- most of it magic- though he was quick to anger when he didn't want to do something or something didn't go his way but luckily he grew out of this by the time he started at Hogwarts. His parents pushed him hard and while others might not have taught their children the Dark Arts at such a young age, his parents were slightly insane in that regard. They wanted him to be a master in the field, to have power over other people and to be feared.

When he wasn't in these lessons, his parents taught him their family history, how to behave in public and other skills they thought would be useful. ages, taking no slack from them at all.Both of them hailed from old French Pureblood families who put a lot of emphasis on proper etiquette and correct manners from all members of their family starting at early

Also spending a lot of time with his brother Rabastan, Rodolphus viewed him as a bit of a protector of his younger brother and wouldn't take anyone messing or insulting him in anyway - even if Rabastan could have looked after himself.

Upon turning eleven, he was accepted into Hogwarts like his parents had hoped for. Once arriving there he was sorted into Slytherin and quickly found that even though the English Pureblood's didn't know his family personally they had heard of them. He quickly settled into the house and found he had a similar view on a lot of politics and the like which he liked.

He excelled at Arithmacy and Charms though he did quite well in all of his subjects. He was a quite student though he a large group of 'friends'. Some of these were a few children he had met at parties when he was approaching eleven but had never truly gotten to know them due to the situation. He also earned himself a bit of a reputation as someone who had no tolerence for the lesser students in his eyes which meant he was often in trouble. He didn't mind though, he twisted some of the Professor's around his finger so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Towards the end of his schooling, he grew closer to Bellatrix Black and eventually began to date her. While he loved her in his own way, he was fully aware that she didn't love him back but he didn't mind. They got on well enough and he was content with their relationship. He also knew he couldn't marry into a better family than the Black's which also made it more bearable.

After Hogwarts he took a job as a Curse Breaker for Gringotts mostly so he would have things to do and later on to enhance his Lord's contacts and influences in different places. A few years later he married Bellatrix Black in a large wedding. It wasn't long after that when he joined the Death Eaters where he quickly rose through the ranks becoming one of the most notorious of them along with his brother and wife.

Well since I was just learning. Now, I have read the letter and am curious at how accurate it is? If it is, who exactly is here and would I be correct in assuming there is no way to return? I have tired to apparate back home which failed obviously.
