appearance |
Standing at 5'11, Sophia is fairly tall though it is fairly normal She's slightly on the 'extra' side though she isn't considered overweight, just on the higher end of average not that you can tell due to her height. With light brown hair and refined looks, she has a slightly classical look about her. Her hands are calloused and worn not only from cooking but playing the Cello throughout her life. Sophia prefers to dress comfortably, being on her feet the majority of the day in the Kitchen wearing jeans and runners and just a basic top under her apron. |
personality |
Sophia is a warm and caring person though she is very much an introvert when it comes to her personality. She enjoys spending time with people and making them happy but at the same time, there's a limit to how much time she can spend with them. After an hour or so of having to be social, she starts to get tired and will retreat to a corner or home depending on where she is and what she is doing. She's more than happy to talk about what you're doing or what's happening with her or in the world from food and music to politics and your family. Just don't expect her to constantly talk. This love of helping people is why she focused and was best suited for the Healing stream at Lemuria though she didn't pursue it career wise. Sophia was always a creative person who enjoyed the arts. From a young age, she learned how to play the Cello and undertook Ballet lessons, both of which she continues to this day in her spare time. Despite that, her first passion is and has always been food. Sophia loves it, both eating and cooking. She will cook when she's stressed, bored or going out somewhere - she'll never turn up without a plate of something in her hands - so it seemed only natural that she would become the Chef at Lemuria when Jaqueline retired, though she previously assisted in the kitchens while she was a student. Sophia, despite being a hard worker isn't overly intelligent and has gotten to where she is today through a lot of hard work and determination. While growing up, Sophia had a lot of insecurities about who she was especially when it came to her sexuality - or lack of it - and while she has come to terms with it and even has found someone to spend her life with she still sometimes worries that there is something wrong with her, that people are judging her. This was brought on by a couple of bad relationships when she was younger with people who didn't fully understand and therefore her forcing herself - trying to convince herself really - that she wanted something that she actually didn't. Despite that, Sophia is open about her romantic relationships (being married to another woman helps & having Lemuria as small as it is you can't exactly hide this sort of thing) and she won't hesitate to answer questions of people who are questioning their own sexuality. She won't go into personal details but she will encourage people to explore and question if they think they might need to. She'll support them through it, knowing it's not an easy thing to do. Sophia, despite her caring nature, can have a temper. She's a fierce believer in equality and won't hesitate to call out people if she sees them behaving in a way that she deems inappropriate. She can also hold a grudge for quite some time, struggling to forgive people especially if they have done something she personally deems to have hurt her in one way or another. |
history |
MOTHER: Amelia Quirke nee Cant FATHER: Joseph Quirke SIBLINGS: n/a SPOUSE: Melanie CHILDREN: Jake & Philippa (Pippa) - twins, aged 7 Sophia was born on the outskirts of London as the only child of Amelia and Joseph Quirke. Amelia and Joseph owned a successful restaurant close to where they lived. Sophia, therefore, grew up in the restaurant, looked after by her grandparents, parents and other staff at the restaurant. Her parents, from a young age, started to explain what they were doing and taught her to cook so by the time she ended up starting school she could cook basic things despite being so young. She loved the restaurant, loved spending time there and always looked forward to returning after school. It was during these early years of her schooling that Sophia would pick up Ballet and fall in love with it. She spent hours each week learning and eventually had the opportunity to go professional if she wanted to really dedicate herself to it but she would decide against it, prefer it to remain a hobby over something that she had as a career. Especially as dancers had such short careers. At school, Sophia did well at her subjects not due to intelligence - though she was never dumb - through sheer determination to do well. She'd never be at the top of the class but she was higher than average because she refused to be anything but. While she would only have a small group of close friends, she would often be described as kind and helpful by her classmates, always willing to step up and help others out if the need arose which was appreciated by everyone. When she commenced high school, Sophia picked up the Cello, having been fascinated by it. Like with her dance, which she continued, she practised and practised though she would never go far, she was more than competent at it. Despite that, during these years, she continued to help out in the family Restaurant, working as often as she could. She loved cooking and experimenting with food, something that came naturally to her and seeing the happy customers was a reward in itself. It was during High School that Sophia began to question her sexuality alongside many of her yearmates. While many of them knew they were attracted two boys, enjoyed sex and making out, Sophia wasn't. She found the occassional guy attractive but for the most part she'd just shrug her shoulders or pretend that she thought they were. She realised early on she found women more attractive than men. For awhile she would identify herself as bisexual because she thought she should be attracted to men but deep down knew she was lying to herself. She did date a couple of guys during High School she struggled to actually form a real sort of relationship with them which they sensed both emotionally and physically she was disconnected. During her final year at High School, she had two significant relationships. The first was with Jacob, one of the two boys that she dated. He was also the first person she had sex with. She didn't enjoy it but she thought she should so she pretend to. She felt disconnected and while she tried her hardest to enjoy it and please him she just couldn't. The next relationship was with Amelia who she truly did like. They had fun together, she enjoyed making out with her, kissing and fondling each other. Actually having sex though beyond that? She just didn't feel it, she felt disconnected and like it wasn't worth it, the feeling of arousal just disappearing after awhile. The two of them would break up after a few months of dating but would remain friends for the rest of the year. After graduating, she was approached by two people - a recruiter for Lemuria and someone wanting to offer her a position in a cooking course - who both wanted her to consider their schools for their further education. After much consideration, Sophia chose Lemuria though she informed her parents that she was to attend the Culinary School. During the years, she kept some contact but often said she was too busy learning which they understood. It was here on Lemuria that she started to finally accept who she was. After a few more failed relationships where she tried to involve herself in the sex life of her partner, Sophia finally admitted to herself that she was asexual. It wasn't something that was really spoken about but after much research she learned and figured out that was what she was. At the time she was dating Jessica who accepted that and helped her come to terms that there wasn't actually anything wrong with her as she originally feared. During her years as a student at Lemuria, she studied Healing which was explained by her natural inclincation to help others. While she enjoyed her studies, her greatest joy came from assisting the Chef whenever she had the opportunity to do so. After leaving Lemuria, at the age of 24, she stayed on as an apprentice to the current Chef full time in order to take over their role once they retired. Mason finally did so three years ago, allowing Sophia to become the full time Chef for the School. It was during this time that she met Melanie and fell in love with her. Melanie was another Agent though a few years older and had returned to the island due to ****. The two of them formed a strong friendship and soon started to date. Sophia was terrified about telling her that while she was homoromantic she actually wasn't interested in sex. Turns out she didn't have to worry as Melanie was also asexual. The two of them have an incredibly strong relationship, marrying not long after Sophia turned 27, three months before the returned to Lemuria where they live these days. They now have twins concieved via IVF - Jake and Philippa (Pippa) who are seven and growing up far to quickly! |
