♥ Helpful - Miriam has grown up in an environment and family that thrived on people helping each other. To this day, she finds it incredibly satisfying to help people and do good by them. This desire, need, to help people is one of the reasons that she became a Healer in the first place

♥ Friendly - Miriam, while she knows it isn't possible she tries to get along with as many people as possible. Or at least be polite if she doesn't like them

♥ Quiet - While she isn't introverted, Miram was never loud nor the center of the party.

♥ Loving - friend, family or a lost dog it is very easy to find a place in Miram's hear. Over the years she's taken in a number of stray animals and nursed them to health. It's actually one of the reasons she ended up adopting Mirabelle. Besides always having wanted a child of her own, she had met her future daughter at St Mungo's and her mum, a single mother wanted nothing to do with her. She couldn't stand the thought of her going to an orphanage.

♥ Naive - despite everything that she has seen in her life especially since the war has started Miriam still tries to believe that there is good in everyone. While she will never understand Purists a part of her hopes that they will eventually come around and that the war will end quickly. She also tends to believe anything she hears in the rumour mill

♥ Stubborn - Unfortunately, once Miriam gets something into her head she rarely changes her mind on something. First impression often forms her views on a people and if she doesn't like you chances are she won't. Not always the case but it will certainly influence her.

♥ Anxious/Worries a lot - While Miriam knows she's capable she constantly worries about doing something wrong while at work. She never actually has but it still threatens to overwhelm her at times. She's managed to develop a lot of things that helps her overcome this. She also worries about what will happen to her family during the war and has tried her hardest to protect them.

♥ Slightly geeky - Miriam, due to her family has her feet in both worlds. Due to this she understands and gets a lot of pop culture references especially things to do with science-fiction shows. Her sister has cosplayed before so she's aware of that and thinks it could be fun though she's never had the guts to do it

♥ Loves cooking - growing up in a restaurant both in Melbourne and London before she attended Hogwarts meant she learned to appreciate and enjoy cooking a good meal

Childhood in Australia
♥ Juan's family had come to Melbourne in the early 1850s, hoping to score some gold for the family. They found some but all in all didn't do that well. Instead of returning to China they opened a Chinese Restaurant in Melbourne on Little Bourke Street which would eventually become to be known as Chinatown. The Restaurant is still there today. Phillip Strout was quite proud in the fact that he could trace his ancestry on both sides of his family back to the First Fleet which arrived in 1788. His family were, most recently a family of police officers. He met Juan when he responded to an incident outside of her restaurant one evening. The two of them were married two years later.

♥ Miriam Bo Strout was born to her parents just under a year after they were married. She was the first of their five children to be born. She was to be followed by two brothers and two sisters though the two youngest wouldn't be born until they were in England. Until the age of seven, she was raised with the help of her Maternal grandparents who had moved in with her parents to help raise the family as both her parents worked. As she grew older, Miriam would help her Grandmother look after her younger siblings. Miriam was a friendly child and loved learning things but most of all she loved being around her family and friends. She couldn't wait until she was able to start working in the Chinese Restaurant.

Moving to England
♥ When she was not quite six, her grandparents had passed away just months previously leaving her devastated, her parents announced that they were going to move to England. Her father, though she didn't know at the time, had been having problems at work and through an old University friend, managed to secure a job at Scotland Yard.

♥ At first, England was a scary place for her. She didn't understand it nor did she understand why they were moving across the world. The only good thing was that she didn't have to learn another language. By this time she was fairly fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) as well as English. The announcement that they were moving to England heralded, Miriam's first bout of accidental magic when she broke the windows in their living room. Her parents were confused but eventually they put it down to an earth tremor that they hadn't felt.

♥ Eight months after they arrived in England, her mother gave birth to their fourth child and last daughter, Mary Far was born. By now, Miriam was happy to and expected to be allowed to help raise her siblings, which gave her something to focus on.

Magic is Real? Going to Hogwarts
♥ Between helping with her siblings, school and spending time with the friends she had managed to make the years flew past and before she knew it, it was her eleventh birthday. It was also the day that her life changed. Just before the family sat down to dinner, the family received a visitor dressed in the oddest robes that they had seen. This visitor explained that Miriam was a witch and had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It took a long time for the family and Miriam to be convinced as she'd only ever had the one obvious incident of accidental magic, with the windows back in Melbourne. In the end, they were convinced and agreed to Miriam attending Hogwarts for a yeart. If she didn't like it she would be withdrawn and enrolled at the local high school like they were currently planning on doing.

♥ September 1st rolled around and Miriam was sorted into Hufflepuff. It didn't take her long to settle into school and soon found that she loved it. It was an entirely new experience for her. She was home sick at first, it was the first time that she had been away from her parents and siblings for her entire life outside school camps that happened once a year. It was during this first week that she met a fellow witch, Phillipa, in her house who, along with the head of Hufflepuff, helped her settle in. The two of them would be best friends until she was killed not long after she graduated from Hogwarts and being diagnosed with an inoperable brain cancer. It was this event that convinced Miriam that she would become a Healer, something she had already been considering.

♥ While, Miriam turned out to be the only magical child in her family, she loved Hogwarts. She did well at her subjects and had a number of other close friends that she adored. She might not have been Prefect, Head Girl of participated in many of the clubs at school but she wasn't a slouch either.

After Hogwarts
♥ Leaving Hogwarts, she considered attending Muggle University briefly but instead applied directly to St Mungo's where she was accepted. She wasn't the smartest but she was always in the top three due to how hard she worked at her studies. Before she knew it she was being raised up to Junior Healer, having completed her three years of training.

♥ During the next four years, Miriam was transferred from Ward to Ward getting a feel for all of them and providing assistance whenever required. She loved her work and was glad to have made this decision. It wasn't long after she was moved up from Junior Healer and placed in the Curse ward that she met Louise. She had known for a number of years that she liked women in a romantic and sexual sense, though she hadn't told anyone but her eldest sister and Phillipa who she had sworn both to secret. While her parents weren't conservative she was worried about how they would react to her falling in love with a women. Eventually though, her relationship with Louise become so serious that she told them. They informed her that they were fine with it and had actually expected it for quite some time as she hadn't dated boys really all of her life.

A family of her own

♥ Thirteen years later, Miriam, who always wanted a child came across an orphaned baby girl only hours old. After discussing with Louise, she legally adopted the child calling her Mirabelle (or Belle for short) Yu Strout, maintaining the family tradition of having a Western First name and a Chinese Middle name. By this time, Miriam had been transferred to the Janus Thickney ward and had also been promoted to the Second in Charge of the ward. While it wasn't the most challenging of Wards, she found the work rewarding in that she was dedicated to keeping them comfortable. She worked closely with the families of the patients that she did all that she could to help cure the patients though for the most part it was impossible. That didn't mean she would ever stop trying though.

♥ Unfortunately in the closing weeks of the war Louise was killed in a Death Eater attack. She's been trying to balance rising Belle and working but it's hard. She misses Louise these days but she's starting to move on and with Belle it makes it easier to give something for her to focus on.

♥ Despite her blood status, Miriam is tried to remain as neutral as possible during this war. She knows she's a target but hopes that the fact that she is willing to heal whoever comes to her no matter their blood and allegiance will mean something to the Purists, though she has no hesitancy in reporting them to the DMLE if she has absolute proof of wrong doing.

Are you involved in politics? Why or why not?
Not particular. While politics is important especially to understand I don't have the type of personality to thrive in politics. Plus given I'm Muggleborn I'm not sure how many people would be happy with that. I'm sure some people would be but even after this war I'm sure that purists are still everywhere in power.

How important is someone's blood status to you?
Not at all. It's a form of racism. As a Muggleborn, Half-Chinese, Half Australian living in England... I hate it.

During the war, which side did you support? How public was your support?
I supported the Ministry and St Mungo's in a way due to that being where I work. I mostly kept my head down and tried not to draw attention to myself.

Have any of your relatives or friends died or been injured during the war? How has this affected you?
Haven't we all? Louise was the closest to me that I a lost though. It was about three weeks before the end of the war and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I learned hours after it happened. Explaining to Belle that she wasn't coming back was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Recently, the Daily Prophet released confidential documents proving the existence of a vigilante group of individuals, including well-known aurors Frank & Alice Longbottom, the late Alastor Moody, and deceased hitwizards Fabian & Gideon Prewett, formed to oppose You-Know-Who and operating outside of the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic. How do you feel about these individuals taking the law into their own hands?
I understand why but thinks it should be left to the Ministry though given it was due to the Longbottom's the war is ended... I won't complain too much in the slightest.

Where do you stand on the arrest and possibly incarceration of individuals for their war crimes? This includes members of the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters.
The Death Eaters do need to be punished completely and utterly for their crimes. What they did was horrific and they have to be truly sick to actually enjoy what they did. For the Order it depends on what they did and at the very least it should be very short sentences because they did us all a favour in the end.

What is your opinion on the use of Azkaban Prison and its guards, the dementors?
We need a jail, all societies do but the Dementor's are disgusting creatures and don't deserve to exist.

What do you see as the most important thing for British wizarding society to do now that You-Know-Who has been defeated?
Rebuilding, moving on with our lives though we need to ensure all Death Eaters are put away. If we can train them in a way that will allow them to rejoin without prejudices that would be great but I don't think they would. They're like sociopaths and you just have to put them away for life.
