APPEARANCE: Standing at 5'6, Rita is a bit taller than average height and relatively slim which makes her look taller than she actually is. Sporting blonde hair and blue eyes she would look quite pretty if it wasn't for the glasses that she sported. They look quite horrible when it comes down to it. She prefers wears simple but stylish robes, when not in her school robes.

PERSONALITY: Rita is first and foremost a gossip. She loves getting into other people's lives and finding out all that she can about them. Why because she hates secrets and loves being in the know. It also endears her to her house mates more than she would have been otherwise extremely cold and rude to her- which they still were to a degree. Rita will undertake any means possible to discover secrets about other people and bribe said person with them to treat her better. She understands that her blood doesn't endear her to any of her housemates so she is determined to get them to like her using other ways- even if it is bribing them with their secrets.
Rita isn't at all against using bribery and twisting the truth to suit her needs. She will bribe, manipulate and lie if it means getting what she wants- standing within her house and people to know who she is as well as have them not target her for being a 'mudblood'. This is probably the root of all her behaviours and it greatly influences any decisions she makes in her life.
Despite all of that Rita is a friendly person if you get on her good side which is extremely hard to do. She prefers to maintain a certain distance from a lot of people to keep her safe. Despite her efforts she was never that welcomed within Slytherin and the other houses weren't fond of her for that reason so really she had always been in a stick situation. For the couple of true friends she has she considers them closer than her real family and respects their decisions. She wouldn't dream of betraying them or gossiping about them ever which says something about how much they mean to her as gossiping and betraying people's secrets is part of who she is.
While she was somewhat accepted in Slytherin it was mostly fake- just so she wouldn't tell their secrets and a lot of people ignored her instead so she often found refuge- when she wasn't going after people's secrets studying or publishing her own newspaper... which was really just a gossip rag. She was rather clever when she focused on her school work which was usually just before assessment came up but none the less she did reasonably well at them averaging an E across most of her subjects. She didn't care all to much about her school work though as she was determined to become a Journalist and she doesn't need many NEWT's for that.

HISTORY: Born on August 23 1951 to Louise and Peter Skeeter as their only child she was an unexpected miracle as in 1948 Louise had been declared barren. This lead her to being spoiled growing up, especially for the first six years of her life. For the most part, Rita was a happy child who enjoyed playing and having fun as well as spending time with her parents. At a young age she would continually chatt spoil er about nothing at all just talk and talk. It would get on her parents nerves occasionally but they put up with it. They let her get away with pretty much anything as it was.
When she turned six though her life started to change. At first she didn't know what was going on but when she was eight she discovered that her mother had been diagnosed with Chronic Depression resulting from Ovarian Cancer. That was when her mother passed away. When that happened she turned cold and bitter as she hadn't been expecting it and had thought everything was normal for their family. This one event lead her to hate secrets- her parents thought she was too young to know the truth- and made her determined to never keep one and uncover as many as possible.
That was also what lead her to her first bit of accidental magic- she exploded all the windows in the house when her father told her the news.
Now with a strained relationship between her and her father, Rita spent as much time as possible away from him. She either was in her room reading or snooping around the town eavesdropping on people.
When she was eleven she was rather surprised to receive a letter from Hogwarts explaining that she was a witch but once Professor McGonagall explained it all to her she had to admit it did explain a lot of things that had happened over her life. Arriving at Hogwarts she was sorted into Slytherin and it didn't take long for her to pick up that she was accepted. Slughorn immediately explained to her once arriving in the common room the fact she wouldn't be welcomed in the house by the students. That was when she was determined to at the very least make them ignore her and stop attacking her but she wanted them to accept her.
She then spent the rest of her years at Hogwarts trying to get as much gossip as possible on people- in and out of her house to make them warm up to her. She used the gossip and secrets she found on her housemates to blackmail them into treating her better. This resulted in a lot of them just ignoring her but some of them started to be civil to her- if none of them were out right nice to her.
She has one or two actual friends though for the most part she doesn't really mind about that sort of thing. She has been doing reasonably well at school and while she wasn't name prefect she doesn't mind, after all, it would take away her time for gossip and the like. She has had a couple of crushes over the years and gone on a small handful of dates, none have formed into long term relationships.
