PERSONALITY

Despite everything that Shmi has been through in her life, she is surprisingly kind and loving especially to those who she calls family. Being sold into slavery when she was just a child has taught Shmi to value what she has a lot and not to think about the situation that she is in for it could be much worse. From a young age she taught herself to do this, to look on the brighter side of life which made her able to get through life without destroying herself like many other slaves did. She cares greatly for her family, especially Anakin who means the world for her and would do anything for him, which is why she allowed him to go to Coruscant to peruse his fate to become a Jedi. In fact, Shmi is completely selfless and will put other people's happiness before hers because seeing them happy makes her happy. She enjoys a peaceful life and tries to remain in people's good sides, even when she was a slave to the Hutts and then to Watto. Shmi, doesn't blame anyone for what happened to her, calling it Fate (or the Force's will). Even Watto, who didn't treat her well while she worked for him, she was determined to treat well. After Anakin left though, the two of the became closer to being friends than a Slave and her Master as Watto greatly appreciated everything that Anakin did for him though Shmi was brilliant in her own ways too. Thanks to Pi-Lippa, one of her former Masters, she is incredibly skilled at fixing things which made her more valued as a slave. It wasn't just that though but she has a genuine love of doing so and always tried to find things to fix. The house on Tatooine, was filled with bits and pieces that she was working on. Even though she was a slave, she was skilled enough to earn an income wiping computer memories on the side which supported her and Anakin when it was just the two of them.
