At an early age he learned, along with his brother Barney, that words could do a lot of harm when said without thinking. In fact, due to his father's behaviour and then the brief amount of time that he spent at a children's home with Barney he often likes to spend time alone. Even now, all of these years later, he is a solitary person. During his life, Hawkeye, despite fighting for the good of the world has been hurt a lot and therefore has trouble trusting people. Between his father's abuse, which has left him scared, though not as badly as he could have been. Now, that isn't to say that he doesn't trust people but the number of people he truly trusts is incredibly small. The people he is loyal too can be counted on one hand - Steve, Natasha, Tony and Bruce first and foremost. He finds that this works just fine for him and his life. Clint, has always lived an interesting life. From joining the circus and training to use a sword to trying to impersonate Iron Man and the feats that he accomplished, Barton has always been one to give anything a shot no matter how outrageous it is. He has no problem telling these stories to people though - that is the unclassified stuff! His biggest failing though, is that he finds it hard to open up to people and share his feelings with him. He is therefore often described as cold and elusive, which he is when it comes down to it. It is just his way of coping with everything though and trying to stop himself from being hurt again. The one time he tried to open up was with his wife Mockingbird and that ended with her death unfortunately. To cover himself when he is hurt, he is often sarcastic and fairly blunt at the same time. A lot of people find his sense of humour odd and aren't sure what to make of it. He is very quick witted too, coming up with quick and snappy replies at the drop of the hat. Surviving everything that he has, Clint has developed a streak of bravery that borders on stupidity at times. He has no problem with diving into something and doing it, as stated above, even if it poses a high risk to him. It's why he has no problem in helping his fellow SHIELD or Avengers when the situation calls for it. In fact, he is known for the help he can get, though his skill lies with the bow which means he isn't in the action as much as others might be.
