appearance.

Petunia, is often said to resemble a horse with her buck front teeth and extra long neck. She has dirty blonde-red hair, blue eyes and rather sharp bone features. She's also incredibly slim which makes her look taller than she actually is. She dresses well, believing that appearance is everything - the better you appear the better off you are.
DESIRED PB: Elizabeth Perkins

personality.

Before Lily met Severus and discovered that she was a witch, Petunia was a normal young girl. After that though, she developed a jealous streak that took over her and everything that she did. It was made all the worse when she wrote Headmaster Dumbledore, begging to be allowed to attend Hogwarts despite having no magic herself - all she wanted was to be magical, to be like her younger sister who was perfect in every way while she wasn't - at least in her eyes. As she has grown older, this jealousy hasn't dissipated but instead ended up growing until she hated anything magical.

Petunia, loves to gossip with the other ladies of Privet Drive - or at least she did until she and her family had to move away for their own protection. She would often peer through the kitchen window or over the fence to watch her neighbours and listen in to their conversation. If she wanted to know something she would find out about it - especially if someone was acting unusual. If someone wanted to know something they would come to her and it was highly likely that she would know the answer to whatever question they had about someone else.

As well as a gossip, in her quest to be as normal as possible, Petunia can be quite bitchy at times. She's incredibly judgmental and isn't afraid to let other people know exactly what she thinks of them. She is also extremely prejudiced against anything that isn't normal - especially the magical people. Did I mention that she had grown to hate anything magical after she was denied acceptance into their world? Well, she has managed to convince herself that they are completely abnormal and she is better off having nothing to do with them, going as far as to lie about her sister and brother in law and what they were like.

Petunia is nothing but determined when it comes to her life. She isn't determined to succeed but she's determined to have the perfect life, to appear as normal as possible and not to have anything 'bad' about her said by others. Of course raising Harry did put a dint in this due to his accidental magic but she tries her hardest to make them appear normal despite that going as far as to insult his family, call him a criminal and generally make his life as much a living hell as possible. If she had her way she would have nothing to do with him or his world due to all the problems and pain it has caused her over the years.

Surprisingly, giving her gossipy nature, Petunia can keep secrets exceedingly well. Of course, she knows that she can't speak of magic to just anyone but she even kept secrets from her family about just how much she knows of the Wizarding World when she admits knowledge of Azkaban and the Dementor's after Dudley and Harry were attacked by them, much to her families surprise. A part of her has pushed this to the very back of her mind to avoid thinking of it as much as possible but that knowledge is there and it will surface from time to time.

Petunia loves things to be exactly the way she wants them. Clean, Orderly, Neat and NORMAL. When things aren't she has a high chance of losing her temper and yelling at people - the usual source of this being her nephew Harry who she will take the brunt of it as she would never dream of hurting her precious Diddums. She's been known to shut, insult and even swing a frying pan at her head when something isn't done exactly the way she wants it. In some ways, though she has never been officially diagnosed she has many symptoms of people who suffer from OCD. She will often be found cleaning or making Harry clean the house and the garden multiple times until it is to her exact standard, of course if it is Harry she will be furious if it isn't done properly the first time.

Perhaps it is due to her want of normalcy, or because she only has the one child - her nephew doesn't count - she gives in to every whim of Dudley's that he wants. In fact she has never once said no to him during his life giving him exactly what he wants and when he wants it. To her, he can do no wrong even though he is far from the perfect person she just refuses to believe it.

history.

Petunia Anne Evans was the first and eldest of the two girls born to Michael and Violet Evans on September 1 1956, with her sister Lily being born four years later. Her childhood was relatively normal for the most part, up until Lily met Severus Snape at the age of nine. The two sisters were best friends, despite the drastic differences in their personalities.

School went well for Petunia and while she made some friends she was never the most popular of girls, unlike her sister. This made her slightly jealous, but she accepted that as she knew how kind and friendly her baby sister was. When Petunia was ten, she started to become afraid of her sister, though she wasn't conscious about it. It really wasn't her fault that Lily's doll broke but the mirror that cracked at the time that Lily lost her temper scared her. She and her parents did put it down to a coincidence but as someone who had grown to love fantasy novels at a young age, a small voice suggested it could be magic though she did her best to ignore it.

Little did Petunia know that she would be proved correct three years later when Lily came rushing home to inform her that she was a witch. Petunia didn't believe her at first, no matter how much she wanted magic to be real she knew it wasn't and surely Lily did too? She tried to talk some sense into her but there was no use to it, Lily was convinced. She did learn some things about the Wizarding World, following Lily a few times to meet Severus until she was caught - she told them that she didn't trust this Snape boy, that he was up to no good but Lily would hear nothing of it.

That was the beginning of the end of their friendship between the two sisters.

The following years were tense between the two of them, her parents not seeing how much of a freak Lily was for being magical as she had started to call her after she was refused entry to Hogwarts. Over the years Lily tried to get them to be friends again but Petunia continually pushed her away. Of course as they got older they did communicate a bit, just to please their parents - at least on Petunia's part. She also got sick of Lily's begging for her to forgive her for being magical, wanting them to be the way they used to be. As much as Petunia wanted this too, she knew it wasn't going to be possible given that Lily was now a Witch.

After finishing school, Petunia moved to London to do a typing course and from there she got a job at Grunning's where she met Vernon Dursley who was normal and that appealed to her. The two of them dated for awhile before they were married. Before that though, Petunia, worried about what Vernon would think of Lily and her boyfriend James who was also a freak, confessed that magic was real. Thankfully, Vernon didn't hold her sister's unnaturalness against her and the two of them were married.

Unfortunately the first meeting between the two couples didn't go well, with Vernon and James trying to out-boast each other. In the end the evening was a disaster with the two Dursley's - well Dursley and his future wife storming out of the restaurant and Lily breaking into tears. While she will never admit it, the site of Lily in tears did strike a cord within Petunia.

While the two of them never saw each other again, Lily and Petunia did exchange the occasional letter including the announcement of Harry's birth which Petunia promptly threw away and she, sending Lily a vase for the 1980 Christmas.

Much to Petunia's delight, she gave birth to their only child, Dudley Dursley on June 23 1980 and she took great pride in how normal the three of them were.

It wasn't to be though.

Just over a year later, that peace was shattered on November 1 1981, when she found her nephew on the doorstep with a letter informing her of her sister's death. Despite their differences over the years, the news of Lily's death shook Petunia and she took it upon herself to arrange a funeral for them as well as for them to be buried in Godric's Hollow where they lived. While she told Vernon that she didn't want Harry there as a reminder of her sister being a freak it was in fact because she felt guilty over how she had treated her sister but at the same time was still scared of Magic and all it was capable of. Deep down she did wish that Dumbledore had at least told her of Lily's death in person though she has never spoken of this to anyone. In fact, she acted like she wasn't at all phased by the news to the outside world.

Grudgingly accepting the fact that they would have to raise the boy, Vernon and her decided to keep him in the cupboard under the stairs. This was partly so that they didn't have to listen to his nightmares that woke him multiple times during the night. Petunia actually went out of her way to show Harry that she wouldn't accept him into their family, showering Dudley with anything he wanted but letting Harry get only whatever Vernon felt necessary - a coat-hanger, a pair of old socks or nothing for his birthday's and christmas's.

He was a waste of their precious normal space and she made sure that he new it.

During those first ten years, she and Vernon tried to make him as normal as possible but nothing they did worked much to their annoyance. When Harry was two, Dudley was tormenting him like he often did and Harry, in annoyance had a bout of accidental magic making all of Dudley's toys attack the boy. Screaming, Dudley went to his mummy who was furious and freaked out by what her nephew did. Slapping him on the backside, she threw him into the cupboard and left him there for the rest of that day - and the next, ignoring the crying that came from it. It was from then on that Petunia and Vernon decided to stamp the magic out of him by any means possible.

Unfortunately for them, nothing they tried worked. Over the years, Harry caused them many headaches by his bouts of accidental magic - he made his hair grow back over night, shrunk a sweater though Petunia never realised that was magic, turned his teachers hair blue and somehow ended up on the roof of the school when he went to hid behind some bins to escape Dudley and his gang.

All of them was Potter's fault in Petunia's eyes and she made sure Vernon punished him for them, made Harry know that, that type of bevaviour wasn't acceptable and looked him in his cupboard for days upon days. It was during these school years that Petunia convinced Harry not to do better than her precious Diddums at school or he would be punished for cheating. She knew logically that he wasn't as both of his parents were incredibly clever, but she was scared that somehow he would use his magic to show up her precious son, who was the best in the world.

It was Arabella Figg who provided a chance to get away from him for the Dursley family. Little did Petunia know that the older woman was a Squib, she probably would have freaked out if that was the case, not that she actually knew what a Squib was. Whenever possible, Petunia would send her nephew to their neighbour and pretend that they were as normal as possible, without Harry.

Unfortunately, Dudley's eleventh birthday and Arabella had broken her leg while Petunia's friend Majorie was on holidays forcing them to take Harry with them to the zoo no matter how little any of them wanted to take him along. It was going surprisingly well much to Petunia's surprise but she must have known somewhere that it wasn't going to last. Somehow, she never knew how, that boy made the snake escape and her Precious Diddums stuck in the snake enclosure. That was one of the worst punishments she and Vernon ever gave him.

Then it was a week before his birthday when she started to get anxious. She had seen all the signs of magic not disappearing like she prayed and that meant the letter would be coming... When the first one appeared she suggested writing back and telling them that the boy wouldn't be attending but Vernon said no and they instead ignored it. Then, more and more started to arrive eventually forcing them to flee the house. Petunia had never been more scared of the Wizarding World and their ability to track them than she was then. First it was at the hotel and then at the tiny cabin in the middle of the ocean.

She should have known not even that would have stopped them from finding the family. It was midnight of July 30th when it happened, their lives were forever ruined um changed um ruined... Petunia never could make up her mind about that one. Harry found out he was a Wizard and she and Vernon officially failed in stomping the magic out of him.

Thankfully for the next seven years they would only see him at the summer holidays, which she realised was better than having him stuck with them for the entire year. The fact that Dudley ended up with a pigs tail infuriated her though and she ended up spilling the beans on what happened and the fact that she had always known that Harry was magical.

The summers after that were full of adventure from learning that Harry couldn't do magic outside of school after he ruined a dinner party with some highly respected guests to his fight and subsequent running away from Marge, the letter covered with postage stamps and then her poor precious Diddums was attacked thanks to him! He infuriated her so much and unfortunately due to a reminder from Dumbledore there was nothing that could be done about it. The only good thing was that he wasn't expelled and therefore didn't have to stay with him for the entire year, that would have been horrible.

A part from the summers though, life returned to normal for her and Vernon which she loved though she knew that Vernon's idea of saying he was attending St Brutus's did give them some looks from neighbours but Petunia pretended all was fine and it wasn't their fault their nephew was an unmanageable freak, right?

Unfortunately two summers later, her life was changed yet again when her nephew and his world convinced the family to move due to the danger they would be in without the blood protection. She was aware of the war that was happening and remembering the last one and what happened to her sister, it scared her and she was more than happy to go along with the plan to move. Except for their two protectors who were magical... That made her skin crawl. Still she knew better than to complain or try and stay - who knew what those freaks would do to her precious family? Hearing the words of forgiveness Dudley said to Harry the evening they left, did warm her heart though she would never admit it. Besides breaking into tears on Dudley's shoulder that is...

The next two months were hard for the family, stuck in one house and when they did go out they had to use fake names and go in disguises. A part of her was amazed by what magic could do but at the same time realising the extent of it terrified her even further. She couldn't help but pray that things would turn out alright though and life would return to normal soon.

connections.

→ Lily Potter, her sister who she has grown up hating ever since she found out she was a Witch. This was bred by the desire to be magical herself and then being rejected from Hogwarts as she was a Muggle. I'd love to see how they interact with not only Lily being alive again but with Petunia living in a magical town.

→ Harry Potter, her nephew who she raised but never treated well and tried to beat the magic out of him. Being that he comes from a time after her and after the war is finished it will be interesting to explore their relationship, especially if Harry doesn't hate her for how she treated him while growing up.

→ Vogg the Viking - how will she connect to the other Muggle in game?

→ Lorcan Scamander & Emily Bones- a squibs who has grown up around magic much like she did though his was a magical household while she just had a magical sister.

plot ideas.

→ Well the most obvious is Petunia facing her fear of magic and desire to be a witch. Even after all this time she is jealous of magical people and being in a town full of them won't be easy for her

→ She's going to have to come to terms that Lily is alive and I imagine that she won't react well when she appears after how she treated Harry.

→ WHERE'S HER DUDDERS. She's going to miss her baby boy sooooooooo much.

→ She might convince someone of the not so light sort to try and brew her a potion to give her magical powers?
