Sarina gets along well with her parents though she hasn't seen them since the war broke out. When it became clear what was happening, they moved to America and are yet to return to England. She misses them but she realises it was for the best that they do move over there for their safety. Growing up they encouraged her to do the best that she could but that the most important thing in life was having fun and enjoying it. There was no point in succeeding according to them if she didn't enjoy it. Yes they didn't have high paying jobs but they were more than happy which was the important thing to them.

Friends: Stebbins, others to be determined
Significant Other: Stebbins
Enemies: Death Eaters, Slytherin's etc

Personality

General: Sarina is a very quiet girl who can easily fade into the background if she desires to. As an only child she didn't have much interaction with other children her age until she started school which meant that she learned to occupy herself in other means to spending time with people. Usually this involved a book of some sort as she wasn't one to enjoy watching much TV. She instead found her refuge in the numerous of novels that were around the house. Quickly soaking up the books she had there she would go to all lengths to get her hands on more, the main source being her school library when she was attending there.

Despite often having her head in a book and being incredibly quiet, Sarina can be quite friendly if you can get through her shell and get her to open up to you. She enjoys conversing with the few friends she has, debating about topics and just generally sharing knowledge and information with them as well as just having a good time. Despite this she has a very small handful of people she enjoys spending time with. A lot of her time now is spent at work or with her fiancée Stebbins.

Quite quick to pick up on things, Sarina was able to develop plans quickly to come out on top or at the very least avoid notice if need be. She found this quite useful during the war given that she worked in the Ministry - even if the Death Eaters moved her to a lesser position, one not that far above an errand girl. Despite this survivalist mode that she could go in, she always had a problem with liars and lying herself as she just doesn't like the idea of people not having the guts to speak the truth. Especially when it could come back and hurt them later on. Over the year though she became at least adept enough at telling lies or avoiding them to not raise suspicion towards her, something she is incredibly grateful for.

Never one to have much of a temper, it takes a lot for Sarina to lose control and snap at someone. Usually, she will only lose her temper if someone has been harassing her or doing something that annoys her for a long time straight without given her a respite from it all. Even then she'll just try and tell them to be quiet and stop whatever they are doing, rarely yelling at them. A lot of this has to do with her hatred of conflict and the fact she just goes out of her way to not have people mad at her. Of course she knows it isn't completely possible to do but she tries her hardest none the less.

While she does love debates and the like, Sarina is also rather stubborn and rarely backs down from an issue once she has her belief on it. She often believes that she only makes up her mind after she has looked at a situation from all possible angles and analysed it as much as possible before making up her mind on it. Of course this isn't always correct but she believes she has done it to the best of her ability in most cases.

Perhaps it would come as no surprise to learn that the Sorting Hat thought she would do well in Hufflepuff as well given that she works incredibly hard at things in life, especially if they interest her. She won't stop at something until she has learned all that she can or has at least learned what she has set out to learn regarding a topic. She is also incredibly loyal to the very few friends she has and would never rat them out or betray them in any other way.

Finally, Sarina can't stand immaturity in people, especially from ones that she has to spend a lot of time with. If you are immature it is the easiest way to annoy her. She just has never seen the point of acting younger than you actually are. Perhaps it is due to the fact she's always been relatively independent but it is something that has never made any sense to her.

First Impression: Very quiet and distant
Likes: books, chocolate, coffee, flavoured milk, skirts and blouses, looking neat, poems, violin, friends, her job
Dislikes: the war, violence, dark, whispers, rumours, failing, people expecting things from her, failing, people who are loud and in your face
How has the war affected your character’s personality?: She's a lot more withdrawn and trusts people even less than she already did. It brought out her self preservation side even more so and allowed her to keep her head down and not draw attention to herself during the year and her work at the Ministry though she had been moved to a lesser role due to the fact that she is a Halfblood and not a Pureblood.

She has managed to lose her conscious when it comes to her inability to lie which made it easier for her to survive within the Ministry and her job as essentially an errand girl for the upper level Death Eaters and the like. All she had in mind was to survive the year in one piece and not be branded a traitor despite not believing in Blood Purity.

Now, she is trying hard to become more out going at least to where she was before the war but she is finding it hard to do so. She's terrified that something will happen that will result in her or friends to be harmed in someway. Often she's woken from nightmares along these lines and just over all is having trouble adapting to the end of the war.

Because she tried to distance herself from her friends during the year to keep them safe she feels lonelier than she was previously and is trying to over come that. Of course she is fully aware that it will take time for all of them but she prays that it can be fixed, even somewhat. She isn't completely disillusioned in that it will never go back to exactly how it was previously.

History

Born to Joshua and Erica Fawcett, Sarina is the only child of the couple. While the family isn't well off money wise they did lead comfortable lives and made sure Sarina was happy enough as a child, despite Joshua not bringing in a lot of money. From a young age, her parents taught her to embrace everything that she had and use it to her full ability, to do things that she liked and to be content in life. Embracing this it didn't take her long to realise that she loved books and reading, especially the fiction ones that were floating around the house.

Her parents realised this was who she was and didn't encourage her to interact with other children if she didn't feel like it. That was the most important thing that they taught her while growing up - be yourself and don't let others dictate who you are. Perhaps that is what caused, Sarina to become the person she is, perhaps not. She supposes no one would know unless it was possible to go back and change time - not that she'd want to do that anyway.

By the time she started her local primary school, she had already taught herself to read by herself and could read quite well for her age. While this didn't completely endear her to the other students, nor did her shyness it probably did help that she wasn't ahead of them in other areas not having really taught her anything else. Just because at that age she wasn't interested in it. Oh she could write a touch but she wasn't all that advanced for her age - fairly average.

It didn't take her to realise though that she wasn't as outgoing or socially inclined as the other students at her primary school. She did make a couple of friends though during her time there which she liked. To them she managed to open up a bit more but she still wasn't completely outgoing. Sarina, fell in love with her school and would actually look forward to going each day to see what she would learn that day.

When she turned eleven, she nor her parents were surprised when she received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. It also came as no surprise to them or to herself that she was sorted into Ravenclaw though the hat did consider Hufflepuff for her. In the end though she found herself to fit in within Ravenclaw and grew to love it there. It was here that she made her true friends, though a small number she grew close to them and would do anything for them.

Sarina dived into her school work, focusing on it a lot and found she did quite well in the majority of her subjects. Especially if she had an interest in them and therefore was willing to work at it. Of course that isn't to say she did badly at the others she was just more average at them as they held less of an interest for her.

Her first few years were relatively quiet, focusing on her small group of friends and her school work. Then Harry Potter came to Hogwarts and things started to occur that made sense to her. Not that she knew all of the details of course, like the majority of the school she only picked up on some of the details, usually at the end of the year. Oh there were some clues during the school year that she noticed but for the most part she tried to ignore it all.

The most startling event of her schooling career though was the Triwizard Tournament that took place in her sixth year at Hogwarts. While she was not yet 17 she did want to compete but unfortunately she didn't manage to get around the age line that Professor Dumbledore had placed around the Goblet of Fire and was one of the students that grew a beard much to her distress. While she usually wasn't that outgoing she had thought that it would be a good test of her knowledge and skills that she had learned over the years at Hogwarts.

Afterwards when she realised what the challenges were she was relieved not to be participating. She was outraged none the less at how dangerous they were and that they forced Harry Potter to compete despite it being against the rules, surely there would have to have been a way around it?

Attending the Yule Ball with her boyfriend Stebbins, she enjoyed herself despite being caught by Professor Snape outside close to midnight. While it was a touch awkward to be caught snogging by him she had enjoyed herself and was glad Stebbins had talked her into attending, even if she hadn't been that keen at first.

With the death of Cedric her world was rocked and truthfully she wasn't sure what to make of it. While she didn't understand why someone would lie about something like that she couldn't figure out how it could be true either. Instead she just tried to ignore it until something happened that brought it to her attention; that would be two years at the end of her seventh year when You-Know-Who's return was publicly acknowledged.

Apart from the fact that Umbridge didn't teach her a thing during her Seventh year Defense classes, the year passed quickly enough. Doing reasonably well on her NEWTs she applied to the Department of Mysteries on a whim and was surprisingly accepted into the program. Starting there she settled into one of the less dangerous departments just to learn how it was done and found that she loved it there. She loved the challenge of discovering new things, to see how Magic worked etc. She couldn't wait to move up through the Department and gain even more experience within it.

That Christmas she was surprised but happily so when Stebbins proposed to her. She immediately said yes and the two of them soon bought their own apartment and moved into it.

During the next six months the war started to heat up and after talking to her parents they decided to go on an extended holiday to the United States just to be safe. They tried to convince Sarina to come with them too but she felt she couldn't just leave due to her job and fiance. In the end that turned out to be a good thing for they would surely have ended up in Azkaban due to their Muggleborn status.

After the Death Eaters took over the Ministry, she was demoted to an errands girl much to her distate. She realised though it was in her best interest not to say anything bad, just to keep her head down and survive as much as she could. Thankfully it was just under a year that she had to do it. She knew she changed during that year, became better at hiding her thoughts and just avoiding notice but she did hate it none the less.

She was terrified that the Death Eaters would question her to where her parents were but as each day she grew less and less scared. Perhaps they were working through the Muggleborns currently in England before moving onto others but they never got her in for questioning. Something, she is now incredibly thankful for as the stories of what happened are coming out to the public.

Not only was she scared that she would be questioned or her parents tracked down she was scared for her friends and other relatives. To combat this she retreated away from her friends and losing all contact with her family, in an attempt to keep them safe. After all if the Death Eaters didn't notice her apart from the girl who brought them the things they requested, they would have no reason to question her, right?

Not to mention the friends that were caught or were on the run from the Death Eaters...

All of that combined led it to be a very rocky and strained year for her and those few friends she did talk to on occasion. Sarina would like to think that they understood why she was doing what she was but it was something she never brought up with them.

Now that the war is over, she plans on trying to rebuild her life as much as possible as well as to convince her parents to return to England now it is safe again. Of course she is fully aware that there is a lot that needs to happen before things return to relatively normal but she's willing to work at it, to help as much as she possibly can.

Storylines

(In order to encourage game relationships, we’d like each player to create at least one storyline that another player can fill. These will be posted on the storyline page at [insanejournal.com profile] pamods.)
The Fiance: We all know Stebbins and S. Fawcett attended the Yule Ball together. What happens if it was more than just that? The two of them have dated for awhile and have now been engaged for a year and a half. What happened to their relationship due to the war? What happened to Stebbins for that matter? What is happening to them now? Are they the same? Is their relationship rocky and uneasy or are they even closer than they were before the war?

The Colleagues: Sarina would love to see some people she works with in the game. Either other Unspeakables or just general Ministry workers!

We Grew Up Together: Her classmates! Her friends! Her enemies! Just people she generally went to school with.

Samples (For those who already have a character in The Phoenix Administration, only the first person journal sample is necessary for subsequent characters.)

First Person Journal Sample (approximately 200 words): I had a meeting with the head of my old job today and he has promised that I can have it back which I am happy for. Yes I technically was never fired but I was definitely demoted even if it wasn't officially. Of course I know there's a lot of work that shall need to be done but I am more than happy to do so. After all if we aren't then who is? The Minister needs as much help as he can possibly get at this moment and I know I'm happy to do my fair share of it.

Plus I know that so many of us just want things back to normal, to forget what happened and move on.

Stebbins
I have talked to mum and dad again today and they think they will wait another couple of months before returning to England, to let things calm down again. Have you had any news from your parents?

Ravenclaws of the June 1996 graduating class
Are all of you alright?

Third Person Log Sample (approximately 200 words, with dialogue): Sarina glanced at the book she was holding as sighed softly. She had been sitting in front of the fire, in her apartment for the better part of two hours attempting to read it but found she just couldn't concentrate on it. Her thoughts kept drifting to the rebuilding effort that the Ministry was currently attempting to undertake. She wanted to help as much as she could even if she had never been the most outgoing she just wasn't sure if there was anything she could specifically do that would be a lot of help to them. Yes she had her job within the Ministry but she had effectively worked a year before the Death Eaters took over. A year where she was learning the ropes and not much else. She definitely didn't know enough to be of much use, that was for sure. She wasn't old enough, trusted enough or high up within the Ministry.

That wasn't to say that there wasn't nothing she could do, it just wasn't a lot and not within the role of her job really. Of course there had been the rumours about the Department of Mysteries being given some of the Dark Artifacts to examine but she wasn't sure what was happening there. If they had it would most likely be the senior Unspeakables that dealt with them, not her.

Giving up with the book she rose and placed it back on the shelf before heading into the kitchen to start dinner. Noticing the time she realised her fiance should be home soon so instead waited for him to come in the door, which he did nearly a minute afterwards. "Love," she said giving him a smile and a quick kiss in greeting. "Did the meeting go well?" she asked curiously. He had been meeting with a potential employer about a job that he had really wanted. She hoped for his sake that he did get it.
