APPEARANCE! Lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric Not pretty is the nicest way of describing Millicent. She stands at 5'6 but with a big build and a bit too much fat on her body she looks shorter than she actually is - rather square. Even if she lost that weight she wouldn't be the prettiest with a square jaw, dull black hair and black eyes. She just didn't luck out when it came to her appearance. Over the two years since leaving Hogwarts, she has lost a fair bit of her weight though she is still rather chunky but is starting to build up muscle instead. She knows she's not the best bodyguard out there but she is determined to do her best. Knowing that she will never be that pretty, Mil has never bothered to dress in fashionable clothes unless the situation calls for it (and those are something she would rather avoid if she could). She prefers for comfortable clothes as well as clothes that allow for easy movement in times of danger - if one can't protect themselves or the people they are serving then it is rather pointless. It is rather obvious by the way that Mil carries herself that she doesn't have the best self-esteem and would prefer to fade into the background and be ignored. This is due to her relationship with her family and how many people treated her while at Hogwarts, though since being Knighted it has improved slightly. PB: Emily Barclay
PERSONALITY! Lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric Millicent is a big bully who just wants to prove she's worthwhile despite not being the most girly girl nor the most acceptable person. Always being bigger than other girls and not liking 'girly things' she always felt like she stuck out and wasn't acceptable, that she had to work hard to be accepted by other people which isn't helped by the fact she's not the prettiest person ever. As a child, her brother was her only playmate despite their age difference and in the end it resulted in her preferring the rough and tumble sports and the like. Even before Jackson was born she never liked sitting still and playing dolls and tea parties and the like or learning about how to be a woman. It just bored her truthfully. Until Jackson came a long, her father spent a lot of time with her as they were closer personality wise than she and her mother which influenced her likes in a lot of ways too. Mill was always envious of the pretty girls, knowing from a young age she was odd in how big and bulky she was in her appearance. She saw them giving her all the odd looks wen they were in Diagon Alley and it made her feel like they were judging her, that she wasn't perfect. She refused to look at them in the eye, not wanting to see their judgement of her but most of all she wanted to become like them, she wanted to be accepted by them. For years she tried to loose weight but she always loved her food too much. In the end she decided to make them accept her for who she was, this became her driving factor and the thing she focused on the most. Given this, she tried to do the only thing she could to show she was 'acceptable' and tried to show people that she was better than them and it was also one of the very few things that made her feel good about herself. She took to bullying people and making them feel bad, she wouldn't just use verbal taunts but would physically bully them as well - that was the one area she was good in and she knew it, putting it to her advantage as much as possible. Millicent isn't clever and while she isn't dumb she just has a lot of trouble learning things. A bit of it is to do with her lack of self esteem which makes working hard, she thinks she'll do badly so she doesn't work which makes her do badly... A big giant circle. If something interests her she's morel liable to attempt it and she will sometimes do alright but most of the time it is fairly average. Millicent is a purist. Not because she believes in it but she believes it is right but because the people in her house believe it and to her being one means she will be accepted by them. She also doesn't talk about the fact that she's a halfblood really either, knowing that being thought of as a Pureblood is better in Slytherin, that isn't to say people don't know the truth about it though. Thankfully, Bulstrode's used to be a Pureblood family and it wasn't until her grandmother that the line was diluted down to one of Halfblood's. Surprisingly, Millicent is surprisingly loyal to people, it just takes awhile to earn that loyalty from her. The main way though is to accept her as she is, or at least publicly do so given she doesn't care or want to know what you gossip about a lot of the time, especially if it is about her. That isn't to say Mill won't gossip herself she's just more likely to say it straight to your face than behind your back, being as blunt as she is. She also doesn't think before she speaks - or acts for that matter, which doesn't help situations. Along with being accepted by her peers, Mill dreams of finding a partner her loves her and will treat her well. She wants to feel loved by someone other than her brother and father, she just wants to have a normal relationship and life. She doubts it will ever happen though, who would want her after all?
HISTORY! Lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric lyric The Bulstrode's were both old Pureblood lines and while they weren't all that rich they hadn't been diluted for some time. That was until Jackson Bulstrode married the Muggleborn witch Jane Cooper in 1956. Their marriage was the scandal of the year as it had been assumed he would stop his relationship with her and marry a respectable Pureblood as was expected of him. Nine months later Miles was born but unfortunately due to complications, Jane died in childbirth and Miles was raised by nannies, his father wanting nothing to do with him. Miles ended up marrying Anne Burke in 1978 and Millicent Isobelle, their first child and only daughter was born to them on December 1 1979. Millicent, from birth took after the Bulstrode side of her family in looks and personality. She was a loud baby, always crying and demanding attention. As she grew up and she was yet to have a sibling, her father, who was closest to her out of her parents tried to raise her as he might a boy taking her to Quidditch matches and encouraging her to play games while her mother attempted to and failed, to teach her manners and other things a lady should know. Mill just had no interest in that sort of thing when it came down to it. She was joined by a brother, Jackson Bulstrode Jr in 1986. Despite their age difference, the two of them got on well when Jackson grew up a bit. He was one of the few people Mill truly liked and who accepted her too. As the only person to play with for the few years he was old enough too 'attempt' before she went to Hogwarts, she became further entrenched in 'boy sports' and the like. Her childhood wasn't an easy one though, her mother made sure that she knew she should be better behaved, that she wasn't pretty and could never wear pretty dresses which she saw when the family traveled to Diagon Alley and she saw people staring at her, pointing and talking about her to each other. That was the beginning of her low self esteem and her determination to change. When she was eight, she declared she was going to be thin and stopped eating. For five hours. Then she got hungry and ate some sweets... She never attempted that again, loving her food too much to give it up. When she was eleven and was accepted into Hogwarts, she didn't want to leave Jackson behind but in the end she did. Sorted into Slytherin it didn't take her long to realise how she had to behave in order to be accepted. She said she was a purist and didn't mention her Grandmother, if they knew of her well... There was nothing that could be done about it. It didn't take her that long to make a name for her as a bit of a bully and brute who shouldn't be messed with if annoyed and annoyed she could become quit easily especially if you insulted her to her face. Her first year was quiet and she surprisingly made some friends which she loved though she still wasn't all that secure, but then again she isn't even all that secure now after she has graduated though her self esteem has improved ever so slightly. Second year, the highlight was the Dueling club... and getting in on a full on brawl with that Mudblood Hermione Granger... Mil really did hate her for some reason. Her fourth year was an interesting year for her, Between the World Cup which she absolutely attended, and actually passing all of her classes (just) she actually had a fairly decent year. Mil was positive she would be forever single and seeing her friends start to date and develop crushes on boys but having no one return her own crushes hurt her - not that she expected people to return her crushes though. Her fifth year was horrible. While she had not been expecting to do well in her OWLs, she had hoped to do better than she actually did. Instead Mil only just managed to get enough to continue on and not repeat a year. Her sixth year was the year Jackson joined her at Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin too which she loved. In fact, Mil went out of her way to protect him as much as she could from being teased though she quickly discovered that he could easily hold his own. She had been scared he would be targeted because not only was he a Slytherin but because he was her sister and she was far from popular. After graduating from Hogwarts, she didn't really have many options as to what she could do career wise. Her only real strength was her physical strength which lead her to the idea of her become a bodyguard for the Royal family. While she was accepted, in so becoming Lady Millicent Bulstrode, she knows that she isn't the best Bodyguard out there because she still isn't as muscular or as powerful magically as some of them but she relies on her brute force and gets by with it. She is spending most of her spare time training though to improve her skills in the area. She won't fail her Royal Family, after all.
