HISTORY As the oldest of three children born to Amelia and Joseph Quirke, Sophia grew up in one of the poorest areas of Ripple. Poor even by non-elite standards. Her father died when she was five of a lung disease leaving her mother to raise the three of them alone. Sophie helped her mother as much as she could, often being sent out to steal or beg for food. Not long after she turned fifteen, Sophia was picked up by Mario Giozani the owner of a brothel not far from where they lived. Promised a place to live, money to support her family and herself and regular food Sophia knew that she had no choice but to accept. Except it wasn't as good as she had imagined. Giozani was a brute who didn't care about the girls working for him. All he cared about was keeping his guests happy and making money. The girls were banned from using contraception - though the Johns were allowed to use it if they wished- , would often be slapped if they didn't perform to standards and in general it was a bad environment to be in. Just over a year later, Sophia fell pregnant for the first time. She was somewhat surprised she hadn't before then though she had only been in training for a number of those months, but also devastated. While she wanted children and knew it was a risk of this job, it was also far to early for her to become a mother. As the months passed, she didn't regret the pregnancy though. She soon gave birth a boy who she named Briar. Despite her hesitancy at first, Sophia adored her son and so did the other girls. All of them helped raise Briar in a communal setting though she had the help of her mother and siblings at times when needed. Eventually, Gwen and her ended up starting a relationship before getting married in a small ceremony. Gwen had always been a close friend of hers, taking Sophia under her wing when she started and while Gwen might no longer be at the brothel she's forever grateful for what she did for her. At the age of twenty, Sophia and a few other girls rose up against Giozani, fed up with the way they were treated. In the end they dealt with them and they started to make changes including changing its name to The Scarlet Letter. By now Sophia is the owner of the business and has implemented numerous changes to make it a safe space for everyone who works there. They've tried to protect Briar as much as possible from what happens in the business but there is only so much they can do. Still, Sophia likes to think he's a wonderful boy and she is incredibly proud of him and all he's achieved. APPEARANCE HAIR: Brown EYES: Brown HEIGHT: 5'11 BUILD: Average/Slim SHORT DESCRIPTION: PERSONALITY Sophia is a contradiction of personality traits. She is a warm and caring person though she is very much an introvert when it comes to her personality. She enjoys spending time with people and making them happy but at the same time, there's a limit to how much time she can spend with them. After an hour or so of having to be social, she starts to get tired and will retreat to a corner or home depending on where she is and what she is doing. She's more than happy to talk about what you're doing or what's happening with her or in the world from food and music to politics and your family. Just don't expect her to constantly talk. Sophia, despite her caring nature, can have a temper. She's a fierce believer in equality and won't hesitate to call out people if she sees them behaving in a way that she deems inappropriate. She can also hold a grudge for quite some time, struggling to forgive people especially if they have done something she personally deems to have hurt her in one way or another. It is therefore perhaps not surprising that she has no love for the Elite class. In fact, she hates them with a passion ,especially for how they treat some of the girls under her care. Not caring how they feel. It's one of the reasons that she dealt with the previous owner of The Scarlet Letter. She can be ruthless if it comes to those she cares about. LOYALTIES & SIDES Sophia hates the elite but at the same time is grateful for them. She hates them for the way that they treat the non-elite as well as their general behaviour. She'd prefer them not to use the girls the way they do but she knows that if they don't they could be dead or in a much worse situation so... She makes the best of it. She thinks that instead of a purge they should expand the dome and build more buildings instead of killing people off. She'd much prefer to see a level of equality between the two classes though. She has a lot of connections with both the non-elite and the elite. Also the father of Briar who she isn't actually sure is but could be interesting to find out at some point. There's only so many people it could be after all. I want drama and fun stuff. IDK give me anything.
